Voting Dork
I managed to probably be the most troublemaking voter in my precinct. How is that? I messed up my absentee ballot (which I filled out in my mini-van) when I used a sharpie to fill out the first oval... um... duh it leaked to the other side. So I had to walk into the polling place with a look on my face of... "I need help." And they did. They set me up with a fresh new ballot, and I proceeded to walk into my little booth. I did the first oval gingerly, and moved onto the initiatives- I knew I would vote 94, 95, 96, 97 the exact the same way. So of course I started with 93.... oops. Instructions posted told me to surrender my ballot if I made a mistake, so that I could get a new one, so that my vote would be counted. And I want my vote counted. So, there went Ballot #2. I was escorted to a computer. "No, she doesn't vote in the booth anymore, she votes over here" the official lady said. "She votes over here with the other imbeciles." OK, I added that part. So, I start with that machine. And it rejects my blank ballot (which is being scanned so that I can enter my votes), it rejects it over & over again. So the lady comes back to help. She tries to help. Then I get chance #4 with paper ballot #3, and I am showed back to the voting booth with a stern (friendly) admonition- "Don't mess up. This is your last ballot."So, take comfort everyone- no matter who you are, no matter how brain dead you are when you arrive at the polling place- you too can vote! That is, if you can get it right in one of your four attempts.By the way, since I voted for Barak Obama instead of Hillary Clinton, I have secured my place as a little rebel yet again- although I am Latino (Latina), even tho I am a woman, I voted uniquely from the majority of my kind. Congratulations, Me!Did you know there is such a thing as Super Delegates? How about, did you know how the delegate system works? And I also did wikipedia research last night to find out- what exactly DOES the Democratic Party believe? How about the Republicans? And the Libertarians? And Ron Paul? So, not only am I a Voting Dork, I am now a Voting Nerd. I am so proud.P.S., Zee probably will have asthma (new Dr. T says), and he may be free of a speech development problem. Way to go, Z, with switching issues! He's always on the move.(Later update: he has asthma AND speech issues.)
