Inquieta. 2011.

How can I feel at rest in my own skin if my skin doesn’t feel right?

"Inquieta" is a silent video of a solo performance I did in 2011. It's about the co-existence & repulsion of familiar opposites that live separated by a border inside my mind.

My hands: Mexican-American & descended from migrant workers, immigrants, emigrants, plumbers, entrepreneurs, storytellers, makers, designers, and builders from north & south of a US/Mexico border that did a lot of changing through the years

The word "inquieta" is the feminine form of "restless" in Spanish.

Materials list from the video: wood, paper bag, cactus soil, cloth, table, bowl, pitcher, water, razor blade, dish soap, bleach, retail bag, nail polish, manicure stick, bar of soap, lotion, nail brush, nail file, paint, duct tape.

Video (no audio), 5 min 30 sec

Packaged video, edition of 5.

Included: 2 works on paper, Inquieta on DVD.

Inquieta screened as a part of the '‘

No Dialogue” show at the 2011 art fair ArtPadSF. It was projected on a 10-story building during the art fair’s programming.
