Wish You Were
WISH YOU WERE
This is a project I did for the Mail Art show called “Presents” at Hyperallergic, which is based in Brooklyn. With many of my online artist connections at the time being near there, I decided to consider all the online world that is physically here in the Bay Area, along with how I wished my online art community was physically here too. So I traveled the Bay Area with my five year old “studio assistant” on June 6 & 7, 2011 (you can see him at the third stop if you look closely), then mailed the art from the local post offices of Craigslist, Twitter, Apple, Google, and Facebook. I took pictures from each of those headquarters and posted them online, pairing them with what I mailed by handwriting the URLs on the back.

Front & back of postcard mailed from Twitter, front has map of internet company HQ location and accompanying text, back has inscription “Wish you were here”, because I did wish my far away online artist friends were near; photo taken in car outside Twitter HQ, June 6, 2011
