Maritza Ruiz-Kim is an artist in the San Francisco Bay Area. By studying subject matter from technology to anthropology and neuroscience, Ruiz-Kim examines the social intersections of each using drawings, writing, painting, photography and video. In March/April 2013, Ruiz-Kim was the featured artist for R&F Handmade Paints, and was interviewed about her work having just completed a one-month project I Will Find in which she made one artwork per day. She had immersed herself in online forms of communication, searched for kind interactions, made work in response, and blogged throughout the month-long process. In 2011, she screened Inquieta as part of the No Dialogue show at ArtPadSF, which was projected on a wall during the art fair’s programming. She is a recipient of a 2013 Conference Scholarship Grant to attend the International Encaustic Conference, and she also serves as the Editor-in-Chief of ProWax Journal, an online publication for professional artists working with the medium of encaustic. Ruiz-Kim is the owner of The Studio Mind in Martinez, CA and has shown nationally in San Francisco, New York, Miami, Santa Fe and Provincetown. Ruiz-Kim received her BFA in New Genres from the San Francisco Art Institute.
